Richardson was drafted by the Colts in this year’s Draft, with the fourth pick. Richardson was playing well until his injury. His athleticism and strong arm had brought optimism to the franchise. However, the injury has halted his progress for the time being. The 21 year old QB, suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder. This season, the Florida product has thrown for 3 TD passes, 1 INT, 577 yards and a passer rating of 87.3. In his four starts this season, Richardson has been hurt in three of those games. In week one vs the Jaguars, Richardson injured his knee and then suffered a concussion in week 3 vs the Texans. He missed their overtime win in week 4 over the Ravens because of the concussion.

The specifics of Richardson's shoulder injury have not been disclosed by the team, but it is expected that he will undergo medical evaluation and rehabilitation to recover as quickly and effectively as possible. The Colts' medical staff will continue to monitor his progress going forward. It is also possible that he could miss up to 8 weeks if the injury does not get better. The games that he will miss are against the Jaguars, Browns, Saints, and the Panthers. He could possibly return in their game vs the Patriots which will be played in Frankfurt, Germany.

With Richardson sidelined, the Colts will turn to their backup quarterbacks to fill the void. Veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, acquired from the Eagles in a trade in the offseason, will assume the starting role, with Sam Ehlinger being the backup. They also signed former Vikings 2021 third round pick Kellan Mound. This will be Minshew's second start this season. The Washington State product started in their win over the Ravens in week 3.

The Indianapolis Colts organization will be eagerly awaiting updates on Anthony Richardson's condition and hoping for a speedy recovery. In the meantime, they must adapt to the situation and continue their pursuit of success this season.
